This morning the people on our Quito team were commissioned at the service. Well, 4 people and 8 heads were commissioned! Since the Sunday before our departure date fell on a holiday weekend, most of our team had family plans and couldn't be there... but they sure were there in spirit!
The idea of a commissioning, or a "sending out" comes from Matthew 28:19 - The Great Commission - where Jesus tells his disciples,
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"
We can't wait for Friday when we officially HEAD out! Teehee.
